Description
Another treasure from our Italian collection. Christi and I were debating over this sample, until we let Jim smell it. He said we had to have it. (Jim seldom does this, so when he loves something, we listen.)
Aromatically, this is deeper than my beloved Black Spruce, and much longer-lasting on a scent strip. Tony Burfield describes the dry-down as “powerful, sweet, fir–resinous with some woodiness.”
Physically it is an expectorant and an antibacterial for the bronchial and respiratory mucosa. On the skin it acts as an antifungal and has deodorant properties. Norway Spruce is moderately stimulating as opposed to relaxing. Its high level of Sabinene should make it really effective in a pain relief blend, especially one for arthritis, rheumatic joints, etc.
(Historical fun fact alert: The famous Stradivarius violins were built with Picea abies wood from the Alps.In Europe, the tree is identified as the iconic Christmas tree from Germanic tradition.)
Blends with: Green notes such as Galbanum, Cedarwood, Juniper Berry,Lavandin, Orange,Oakmoss, Rosemary, the Resins.
For respiratory support, blend with Fragonia™, or oils rich in 1,8 Cineole such as the various Eucalyptus oils.
SAFETY: No warning, but avoid topical use of aged oils. Oxidation or improper storage can lead to sensitization.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after opening bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half-full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.
GC/MS Analysis: Batch #IT-58742
