Description
Michelle loves Tea Tree Oil, but said today as she was pouring it, “this is the nicest batch we’ve had in years.”
Tea Tree Oil has won a reputation as a “cure-all” because of its powerful anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties. It is the first suggestion for athlete’s foot, nail viruses, and other fungal infections.
It’s often used in acne remedies, as well as in a diffuser to combat the flu and other viral infections. It is often recommended as the remedy for a vaginal candida infection.
Please note that recent laboratory tests indicate that Tea Tree Essential Oil is more effective as an antibacterial agent in weak dilutions (ie, less than 2%) than it is neat. I know there are those who recommend using Tea Tree neat, or at least say that it may safely be used neat, however in my experience it is far too harsh to use neat on the skin, and since it is more effective in a weak dilution, why use more than needed?
Research published in Aromatherapy Today, an international aromatherapy journal, indicates that Tea Tree oil added to shampoo in a 5% dilution is at least as effective as ketoconazole and 1% terbinafine in the treatment of dandruff. In the test, the subjects used a 5% dilution in a daily shampoo, and left the shampoo in their hair for three minutes before rinsing.
WARNINGS: Avoid topical use with diabetes and insulin resistance syndrome; patients with diabetes are more apt to experience skin reactions from Tea Tree Essential Oil. Especially avoid use with diabetic neuropathy.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.
