Description
Recently, we had a small amount of an Indonesian Vetiver that was simply exquisite. There was not nearly enough available, but we bought all there was…and sold every drop within a few weeks. Later samples from that supplier were a disappointment, and we assumed that our quest for “the perfect vetiver” was bound for disappointment.
Lo and behold, a new supplier sent us a sample of Vetiver grown and produced in Madagascar that simply blew both us away. Because there is so much adulteration in the world’s Vetiver market, of course we had it tested. YES! Pure, as it should be. And this time we ordered lots! For all you Vetiver lovers who missed out on our Indonesian, this is your answer, our gift to you. This is a vetiver worthy of being in our “Special Reserve” collection.
Of our three Vetivers, this is aromatically the most complex.
Of our three current offerings, the Haitian vetiver is lightest and sweetest. Although the Haitian is still grounding, the Indian is in the middle, deeper and darker, aromatically. This new Madagascar Vetiver is deep, dark, complex, with mystery at its core. It is freshly distilled (January 2019) with a long shelf life. We hope to have the foresight to put some aside and watch how it matures over time.
I love Vetiver—the honeyed sweetness of its scent, and the grounding effect it has when my mind is scattered.
Emotionally, Vetiver is very grounding and balancing. It is a key ingredient in our anti-anxiety blend, Reunité. Vetiver is also very relaxing, a mild sedative, and useful for stress. We would not be without it, and use it daily blended with Neroli, Petitgrain, and a touch of Citrus.
Vetiver may be useful for “aches and pains.” It balances sebum production, so it is useful in treating both oily and dry skin.
Vetiver is far too thick to come out of the largest orifice reducers we have. When you receive the bottle, you will need to remove the reducer and pipette or pour the oil out. Be sure to replace the reducer when you’re done, as it creates a seal between the bottle and cap.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 5 to 8 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life. (This is the official estimate. Our experience shows that with proper storage it could be much longer.)

This vetiver is so deep, smokey, a little scent of vanilla! The best!
